In the past, Nigerians were not even abel to make payments on US websites like AMazon but later that gradually changed with the entry of Visa and Mastercard into our banking sector. Even with those debit/credit card brands, Amazon was not still sending many items directly to Nigeria but only a few items such as DVDs, Tshirts and books. Lately however, things are gradually changing as more and more items are now eligible for direct internnational shipping to Nigerian shoppers.

Nowadays, Amazon no longer rejects Nigerian issued Visa and Mastercards or block people trying to make purchases from a Nigerian IP address but they mostly don't ship to Nigeria just yet but that has been gradually changing and I think 2015 is the best year yet as at now as more items are now being delivered by them to Nigerians.

I'm already used to buying things on Amazon as a Nigerian resident and I get most of m items delivered to me by making use of a US based delivery service. Nowadays, It happens that I have more options as I can buy some items directly from Amazon without making use of that US shipping agent.

I recently tried to see if I could purchase an item like a laptop from Amazon and also get to know if they will send it directly

Category of items that Amazon now sends directly to Nigeria
===================
They send a lot of things in categories such as automotive, baby, clothing, consumer electronics, health and personal care, home and garden, industrial and scientific, jewelry, pet supplies, shoes, software, sporting goods, tools, toys, video games and watches.

Just try to browse through Amazon for whatever you want and try to see if what you want can be delivered to your address in Nigeria. If AMazon offers a direct shipping to Nigeria, then your order will be successful but if not, Amazon has a system that will automatically tell you that they don't offer the shipping yet.

What do you do if Amazon doesn't offer shipping to Nigeria for a particular item you want? Well, it's easy and it's something I've always recommended - Get a US shipping agent

A US shipping or package forwarding agent will help receive your ordered goods on Amazon at a US address and then send it directly to you in Nigeria through DHL, UPS or Fedex.

I've bought a lot of things on Amazon and paid with my Naira visa and Mastercard and have also come to know that the easiest thing one can buy on Amazon is an email gift card.

As Amazon opens up more global shipping opportunities to Nigeria, chances are that it's going to attract a lot of future buyers from Nigeria who will now see a need to shop on Amazon like they already do on Alibaba and Aliexpress. It seems that Amazon, like other US companies have now started seeing Nigeria with a bit more respect than they used to do in the past.

As Nigeria gradually emerges as a leading economic powerhouse in Africa, more and more US companies and merchants will now start looking to do business directly with Nigerians. Even Paypal has already opened up to Nigerians.

Shop on Amazon. Pay in Naira
