MTN Nigeria is currently doing a modem swap for Hynet subscribers who are still using the old CPE modem. They now have a new LTE device that works better than the CPE device and it's for free.

When MTN launched its high speed internet service using a WiFi and ethernet capable modem, the device used was a rectangular electronic modem called WiMAX CPE BM632w. Lately however, they are doing a new device swap for free that allows existing Hynet subscribers start using their new LTE modem which can be indoor or outdoor. All Hynet subscribers are encouraged to get this new device since the CPE modem will no longer be supported on their platform in the near future as a deadline has been placed on it. Subscribers are to either visit their office for an exchange or call customer care so that it can be brought to their locations.

What the process basically involves in exchanging the old CPE modem with the AC adapter in order to get the new LTD modem packaged in the box. A new SIM card will also be inserted in the new modem and it will also come with a new user name different from the one being used on the old modem. The Hynet user will be able to change to a new password when connected to MTN Hynet's platform. The LTE modem comes with better technology and reported to be more faster and reliable than the old one.

So, existing clients will have a free modem swap but new clients may have to pay to get the new LTE modem apart from the cost of their high speed internet subscription. It's faster than 3G.

I have to add that MTN hynet's service is really among the fastest internet services that I've used in Nigeria. With a Hynet device, you don't need to waste time at public internet cafes or wait for downloads. It's really fast!

Found this post really helpful.
However, i would like to know if they are still accepting a swap with the old CPE device for a the new LTE device. And if LTE devices would also work in Port Harcourt because i see Lagos and Ibadan only on their official site.
You can also reach me on my email.
Thank you.

I don't think they work everywhere. Contact your local MTN office to confirm first before buying it.
