It has been up to a month now since I noticed that Jumia Nigeria's affiliate links are not working and so for bloggers who are affiliated to Jumia Nigeria's affiliate program, sending traffic to Jumia may very well be wasting your traffic. If such traffic would have been sent to pay per click advertisers, you could have earned some decent income.

I have to say that this is not a cool way to run an affiliate program especially for a respected brand like Jumia and I do hope they rectify the problem soonest.

As at September 2015, Nigerian Affiliates who use banners and links generated from their Jumia affiliate account may find that while it's possible to login, generate links and use on their online platform, it may very well be a waste of resources since their forwarded traffic would be leading to no visibly working landing page and hence a bad experience for people.

I noticed that when a person clicks on a banner or link that was meant to send them to Jumia's shopping website, they get sent to a white page that only shows the printed word "protected" and I wonder what that means. In a way, I think that would be giving a negative reputation to the site owner and may discourage one's web visitors to keep clicking on such banners or text links in the future.

Jumia Nigeria needs to up their game and ensure that their affiliate program is really working smoothly if they want to encourage affiliates to keep promoting their brand and not lose credit for sending traffic to them.

What can a Nigerian affiliate marketer do when links and banners he's promoting are no longer working? Well, they can temporarily remove them and use alternative ads such as per per click ads or direct advertising. I think it's better to remove non functioning ads that lead to useless landing pages so as not to give a bad reputation to your website.
