Plantains are one of the most commonly eaten food items in Nigeria and for many people, fried plantains are their preferred choice for eating. Plantains are available all the year round in Nigeria and it's a good source of carbohydrates and vitamins.

For those Nigerians who like eating fried plantains but don't want to fry them using a traditional gas or kerosene cooker, there is hope and for those men who like eating them but can hardly fry them without getting it burnt, this is an easy way. All you need to fry plantain chips in Nigeria today is a halogen oven. With a halogen oven, the ripe plantains and a bit of oil, you are good to go.

I would like to share this recipe of how I make fried plantain chips using a halogen oven and what I like about it is that you can control the amount of oil you use in frying them so that they don't get soaked up in a lot of oil. You can choose to add a little oil or a lot of oil and roast/fry them for about 20 to 30 minutes without getting it burnt or over-fried.

Things needed
=================
1. Halogen oven
2. Oil(Palm oil, Olive oil, groundnut oil or vegetable oil)
3. Plantains
4. Electricity

How to do it
============
1. Slice up the plantains into sizes that can make it hang on the low rack without slipping through it.

2. Put the plantain slices in a bowl and add some little oil to it.

3. Ensure that all parts of the plantain slices are coated with oil s that it doesn't get burnt while frying

4. Open the halogen oven and place the oily plantain slices on the bottom rack of the oven

5. Close the lid and set the temperature to 200 C and time to 20 minutes

6. Allow the oven to fry the plantain till it's done

Open the lid and serve the fried plantain.
