In order to be able to send and receive money online safely and quickly, Paypal is one good service that allows you to do this for free and it doesn't cost anything to open a Paypal account as long as you are connected to the internet and coming from a Paypal approved country.

So how do you open a Paypal account?

Well it involves these basic things:
- An email address
- A valid address
- A phone number
- Internet access

With the above details in hand, it becomes easier to open a paypal account in a flash so you just have to get on the web and set up a free account with Paypal.

Steps to opening up an account with Paypal

- Go to www.paypal.com and click on sign up
- Select the country you are registering from. If your country is not listed, then it is not on the Paypa network yet
- Select your language. English is the default there
- Choose the type of account you would want to open. You could start with personal and upgrade later on
- Click on get started
- Enter your personal details with your valid email and residential addresses
- Agree to the terms of service after reading it and click on create account
- Confirm your account and activate it by going to your email and clicking on the confirmation link sent with the mail from Paypal
- Now you have opened a paypal account so in order to have more freedom and remove limits to your account, you should verify your bank and other required details

Other steps

- Verify your bank account

Verifying you bank account for Paypal

Since you already have a paypal account, you may need to send funds and withdraw funds from and to your paypal acocunt. Now how do you do this except with a bank account? Paypal allows users to send and receive money online and it is still virtual money until it actually enters or leaves your bank account. For the sake of security, the best way you could connect Paypal to your bank is by verifying it with paypal and then you would have easier access to it afterwards. Assuming Paypal allows individuals to withdraw to unverified bank accounts, they could run the risk of withdrawing to the wrong accounts or non existing accounts. If paypal users were equally allowed to upload funds from unverified bank accounts to paypal, it may run the risk of fraud and illegal withdrawals or give way to fraudsters to take money out of people's account just because they have personal information about that person. So in order to be able to associate a bank account with Paypal, it needs to be verified in such a way that only the owner could approve of.

Verifying a bank account with Paypal simple involves the following

- Adding the bank details such as account number, bank name, routing number and other details
- Paypal making a series of deposits to the said bank account
- Paypal user responds by confirming those transactions from withing his Paypal account
- Account is now verified if the response by user is valid.

Opening a Paypal account from a non-Paypal country
If you noticed, opening a paypal account requires that you select your resident country and in that drp down box, not all countries are listed. This is because Paypal is not yet everywhere or in every place but still a growing network. There are several reasons why Paypal may not be in your country yet but if you are still interested in opening a Paypal account, it is possible. Countries like Nigeria, Ghana and some European countries are not yet on Paypal but people may still open an account using their residence in an existing Paypal country.
If your are from a Non-Paypal acceptable country like Nigeria, you could still open a Paypal account for instance if you are a frequent traveller to a paypal country of if you have access to a paypal approved country like the US, UK or China, South Africa or Kenya.

All you need to do is the following

- Go to Paypal.com and click on sign up
- Use the country and residence you have access to like your friends of family there
- Use your current email and confirm the registration
- Open a bank account as a non resident in that country and get a credit card attached to it if you intend getting your bank account verified

I think with the above tips, you could start using a Paypal account from wherever you are in the world

Of course you could be able to receive payments online and buy things without verification. But the only thing is that it will be on a limit of around $500
