How to confirm if your MTN line has been registered

So you might have spent a lot of time and energy on queues at MTN friendship centers just to fulfil NCC's mandate for all subscribers to get registeerd before the deadline. Perhaps you just registered in a breeze without waiting for queues or delays. Whichever way you did it and collected a confirmatory ticket, how do you really ensure that your sim card or line has been registerd by the staff. Afterall, they are all human and are prone to errors.
Well there is a free service that allows you to do this but I don't know if it works for other networks but this one works for MTN Nigeria and you can try it at home

Steps to check if your MTN line has been really registered:
- Send a text to 789 with the word "reg" without the quotes
- Simreg should reply you confirming or denying that you have been registered.

After sending the text to 789 or Simreg, you should receive an immediate reply saying "Your number has been registered. Thank you!"
