Although some channels are still showing for the many users of MTN's and Glo's dstv mobile but it seems that more favourite channels are now being offered on a subscription basis. What this means for many mobile TV subcribers on the MTN platform is that they would no longer be watch DSTV mobile for free as they used to.
Currently, dstv mobile is being offered by MTN and Glo and the service has been free for about a year now and it is available for both handsets and drifta subscribers who have capable devices.

I had been using the service for quite a while now - more than a year and it was very helpful especially for breaking news, sports and entertainment but lately the channels stopped showing. After doing a rescan, it still did not work so I had to delete all the old channels and did a rescan and it found more channels in addition to the ones I initially had and here are the ones I got:
1. NTA plus
2. Channel O
3. NN24
4. African Magic
5. Big Brother Africa
6. African Magic Yoruba
7. BET
8. E!
9. Cartoon Network
10. CNN
11. Trace
12. Super Sports 9
13. Super Sports 10
14. Blitz

Now I was able to watch some channels for free such as:

The new mobile dstv service from MTN now comes in four bouqets or packages which are:
1. Free
2. Mini
3. Maxi
4. Maxi +

There will be four bouqets to choose from which are: Free, Mini, Maxi and Maxi+ according to the DSTV mobile website although I'm yet to see this plan on my device.

Free
Free service includes the following channels that will be given to users for free:
- NTA Plus
- Channel O

Mini service includes the following channels that will be given to users for a low cost:
- NTA Plus
- Channel O
- NN24
- AM Yoruba
- BET
- E! Entertainment Mobile
- Cartoon Network Mobile
- CNNi
- Idols Extra
- TRACE Urban

Maxi bouqet
This is for a higher fee for more channels and it includes these channels:

- NTA Plus
- Channel O

- Big Brother Amplifed
- AM Yoruba
- BET
- E! Entertainment
- AM Yoruba
- BET
- E! Entertainment Mobile
- Cartoon Network Mobile

- SuperSport 10
- SuperSport Blitz

Maxi + bouqet
This is also for a higher fee for most channels and it includes these channels:
- NTA Plus

- AM Yoruba
- BET
- E! Entertainment Mobile
- Cartoon Network Mobile
- CNNi
- Idols Extra
- TRACE Urban

How much this new services cost
It depends on the plan on which you are on and which device you are using(Handset or drifta). Mini is offered at the least price while Maxi carries the highest prices and their costs according to dstv mobile services are:

Handsets
Free Tier: Free
Mini: NGN 170.00
Maxi: NGN 400.00

Drifta
Free Tier: Free
Mini: NGN 680.00
Maxi: NGN 1 600.00
Maxi +: At no charge to DStv Premium subscribers

Between Drifta and the Nokia 5330
Initially, dstv mobile was popularly deployed with the Nokia 5330 phone by telecom companies in Nigeria and it came at at cost of about N28000 inclusive of the free 1 year service. Lately however, DSTV is introducing the drifta as a new platform for mobile tv. The drifta doesn't exactly have a screen for displaying video or speaker for audio but it is just a device that allows you to watch dstv on a variety of other devices that do not have their own dvh-h capability and this is meant to help a lot of people who would have loved to have the service outiside of just the Nokia capable phones. Drift allows users to watch mobile tv on gadgets such as your Ipad, iphone, laptop and most digital display screens.
The drifta goes the extra mile of providing capability to your other devices such as computers at your office, ipad when you are on the go and so on and it currently costs at a price of about N14,700 from Multichoice offices.

Of course you can. You should not that it is no longer free except for 2 channels. To get other channels, you need to subscribe for them by paying
