People in Nigeria who make use of computers a lot such as computer operators, cybercafes, small businesses and even home pc users tend to have this need to buy computer accessories at one time or the other either an addition to their system or as replacement for worn out parts.

Finding a place where you can buy or shop for computer accessories in Nigeria can be challenging especially for the JJC or newbie who may be doing so for the first time. When I first got my first computer, it was pretty more expensive than if I had to buy it again now but I guess it boils down to the fact that I was not used to it. If it is your first time to shop for accessories for your computer, you should try to do a bit of research first about certain things like pricing, quality and reputation of sellers as well as if there are any warranties attached to the item on sale.

In Nigeria, markets have been segregated into different locations based on what they offer. For computer accessories, there are several computer villages or markets where popular shopping for computer products is popular. In cities like Lagos, there is the computer village at Ikeja where you can get the cheapest computer parts as well as other devices such as mobile phones. There are also smaller and reputable markets for computer accesories across Lagos like at Ogunlana drive Surulere, Allen Avenue Ikeja and mals like the Palms lekki. In Abuja, there are equally major computer markets such as Abuja shopping complex Garki.

If you live close to Ikeja, Lagos, then it would be easier and more convenient to go there to get the items you are looking for. There is a saying that there is no computer device in Nigeria that you will not find at the computer village. For those who don't know yet, the computer village is located at around Otigba street Ikeja. Those living close to places like Surulere can easily get Computer accessories in places like Ogunlana drive and Ojuelegba.

Tips for getting a good bargain for your computer accessory
Before going to buy stuff at a close computer market, here are certain tips I think will be helpful to you to ensure that you will get the best value for your money:

- Do a Google product search first about the item and see the listed price and specifications
- Convert to price to Nigerian naira to know the estimated price in Nigeria
- Try to identify the original name or model of your desired device or item
- Take the item(Or sample) with you to compare if you are buying a replacement
- Be ready to test the item at the store for eg. Hard drives,
- Be ready to bargain for the price
- Try to see other offers at 3 or 4 stores before making a buy decision
- Make sure you buy from reputable stores and not by the roadside
- If you have problems with your purchased item, try and return it the next day

Every computer item or accessory has got a specific name and/or brand so make sure you always buy the one designed to work with your computer system as this will help keep it working efficiently. Some of the popular computer accessories you can get at most computer markets in Nigeria are ups batteries, flash drives, hard drives, printing ink, keyboards, 3g usb modems, CD plates and so on.
