As a blogger or website owner, one of the things you must have worked on or wanted is traffic. But is it not just any traffic but the right kind from visitors who are genuinely interested in what your blog has to say.

How does one get traffic to a blog? How do you drive more traffic to your site?

How do I increase my blog traffic?
There are a lot of questions bloggers ask when it comes to getting traffic and some of these questions can be:

- How do I increase my current web traffic?
- How do I generate traffic for a new blog?
- How do I maintain traffic for an old blog?
- Is my web traffic the right kind of traffic?
- How do you get the right visitors to your site?

Tools I use to increase my web traffic
There are a couple of things I use to generate more traffic to my site and even for new posts and some of these things includes:

- Offering mail subscriptions
- Google webmaster tools
- Feedburner + Facebook + Twitter
- Unique posts
- Blog commenting
- Online advertising

Online advertising
Let me start with the last one called online advertising. For new bloggers, this is actually the most effective way to get a lot of traffic to your blog. Since your site is relatively new and may take 6 months to get listed on search results, there are a couple of things you can do to still bring in some traffic and it includes paying for it. You just would need to know how to target your desired audience and keep them interested in your blog. After getting your visitors, the next thing is keeping them subscribed with an email service. It is not necessary that you use online advertising to bring in visitors but it is really an effective way

Email subscriptions
This is how a lot of top bloggers really get the most traffic. It is not just from search engines or other sites but for them, the most important thing is capturing the email addresses of real people and you can do this legally by offering s subscription service. As your email list grows, so does your traffic. I prefer using feedburner as it is easy and allows people to just enter their email in a box so they stay subscribed, receive an email on updates and will keep coming back even if they forger your blog address. Top bloggers with a lot of traffic tend to have more than 100k subscribers and this already adds value to your website. They are also services from companies like Aweber and so on.

Google webmaster tools
What this offers is just an insight into how Google views your site. With a google account, you can link your site in webmaster tools and see how your site is performing in search results such as important keywords or phrases that your sites shows up or is listed as results. This allows me to work on my strengths to dominate it and also see opportunity in my weaknesses.

Social networking
You can do this by integrating your site with social sites like Twitter and Facebook. I normally do this with Feedburner by first integrating feedburner to twitter and then to facebook using the apps. So this makes your blog updates to be on both sites automatically as you update your blog and this normally improves your web site ranking in search results.

Unique and more posts
If your blog is not getting the right amount of traffic that you so desire, it is simply because you don't have sufficient posts yet and your posts are not so unique. You just to make more posts and make them unique if you really want to see long term sustainable traffic. They say, content is king and this is true so even with just making a lot of unique blog posts, your site can get increased traffic. You don't really have to do any other thing if you have a lot of blog posts and the more the merrier. Think of it this way, if you are currently having 1000 visitors a day and you have 10 posts, then to get 100,000 visitors, simply multiply those 10 posts to 100 and make them unique.
