One of the problems one would face when using a wireless internet connection is when it comes to using it on a desktop PC. Most Desctops don't come with Wifi capability as the only option it provides for you to connect to a broadband internet connection is by means of it's ethernet port using a cable. I faced the same problem too as I was not really able to connect my desktop to my MTN Hynet service by cable or wifi but it only worked well on my Laptop.

After doing a bit of research, I found out two ways by which you can connect your desktop to a broadband wireless or wifi internet connection without using an ethernet cable or port

Options available:
- Wireless Wifi PCI adapter card - See
- Wifi USB adapter or dongle - See

The first one is a device that slots right into your computer and it comes with an antennae to be able to detect wifi signals. There are no wires involved and its only connection to your computer is by means of slotting it into that card slot.

The second one is much simpler and worls just like a flash drive. You just plug it into your usb port and allow it to autoplay and detect any wifi connections available.

After inserting either of the devices, you should allow it to install and use any cd it came with. You should be able to detect wifi connections from your broadband service if any and be able to connect to the internet smoothly.
