How to buy laptops, phones and digital cameras from the US and ship to Nigeria

When it comes to internet shopping from Nigeria, one of the sites I would recommend is Amazon.com. It is practically the largest online retail sales and Christmas time like now are the best times to get the cheapest prices especially from numerous deals and promos.

Although you could buy from any other online USA store such as buy.com, apple.com and so on, Amazon.com seems to sell a much wider range of goods for consumers. You also can get original products and deals.

Since this post is really on how to buy such items from US online stores, here is a breakdown:

What you would need:
- A credit card
- A US mail forwarding account - I recommend a MyUS account
- Internet service

Steps to order
- Make sure you are registered with Amazon.com and have a MyUS account. You can open a basic MyUS account for $10 but if you are a regular shopper, then going for their flat annual subscription of about $70 would be more beneficial
- Just go to Amazon.com or follow the link I gave above to buy the item you want
- You can use your Nigerian address as the billing address in your Amaxon account but when it comes to shipping address, add your MyUS address and it will be shipped there
- You can keep shopping from any other online US store or for other products and keep warehousing them with MyUS. The idea is to ship in bulk and in this way reduce shipping costs since there is a fixed rate per weight
- After you are through shopping and shipping to your US address, you can then decide to ship to Nigeria from your USA address, shikena!

Note: Opening a us mail forwarding address carries a basic charge but shipping fees would also be charged to you depending on the weight and value of the items you are sending and you can track your shipping online via DHL or Fedex.

You guys should note that items like laptops and other computer gadgets may be subjected to further charges when it arrives Nigeria. These include import duties which would be a percentage of the declared value of the item. I had this experience once when shipping a laptop
