After installing and experimenting a bit with the Pocketmoni app on my phone, I wanted to be able to use it to at least do a live transaction that involved money. Perhaps, loading airtime or trying to make a withdrawal from a supported ATM machine. Alas, there were no funds in my Pocketmoni account and when I used the link to check my balance, it read zeo naira.

The next step was to find out how to load money to my Pocketmoni account as I had not seen any direct way to do it. I wen to the pocketmoni website and read some of their tutorials about funding one's account and found out that you had to go to the bank, fill a teller with your card/account number and then pay the money after which your pocketmoni account would be funded. The first question that popped into my head was "What is my Pockemoni account number?".

I had bee playing with the java app on my mobile phone but had not been able to see any card number there even though I understood it is a sort of virtual payment card available on your phone. I did a bit of Googling around Pocketmoni website and some of the reviews about it only to later find out that my Pocketmoni card number was actually my phone number. How dumb must I have been not to find that out soon.

So your Pocketmoni account or card number is actuallyyour mobile phone number and you'd need to use that when funding your account at any bank or agent.

One other question I do have concerning Pocketmoni is if it were possible to just fund your Pocketmoni account using internet banking or ATM rather than going to the bank just to deposit money. Nowadays, going to most Nigerian banks is a mere waste of time and I think most people would prefer Internet banking or ATM facilities for funding their pocketmoni account.
