Recently, Amazon is giving away 500 gold coins to every Kindle owner and this is basically virtual gold coins worth 1 cent each that allows a Kindle owner to purchase apps and games on the Amazon store. This means 500 gold coins allows you to make purchases at the Kindle apps and games store for items worth up to $5.

It is basically like a discount on your Kindle purchases worth up to $5. As we know, there are a lot of apps on the Kindle store moderately priced at about $0.99 and some are even for free. All one needs to buy these apps from Nigeria are the gold coins, a US ip and home address.

When at the Amazon appstore and viewing a product, you'll see a button under your 1-click button that says "Spend Amazon coins". Just select that option and click on "Spend Amazon coins" button. The app would be added to your purchased items and you can then download it to your Kindle.

Why did Amazon introduce gold coins? I'm thinking they did that to encourage more people in buying apps and games. I guess it is the new payment system for the appstore even though they still accept other payment options like gift cards and credit cards.

Apart from the free 500 gold coins which Amazon is giving away and the sentimental benefit attached to it, Kindle users could still purchase gold coins from the gold coins store any time and then use it in settling bills when buying apps or games from the Kindle store.

The benefit or using a gold coins over your credit card or gift card is that you get a discount of value when buying gold coins. Gold coins worth $10 of apps and games can actually be bought for $9.99. Yes! That's about a 10% discount value every time your buy such gold coins.
You would most likely lose the discount which a gold coin offers you if you choose to buy an app with your credit card or gift card rather than using a gold coin.

Think of it this way, if you'e spent up to $1000 buying Kindle apps and games with your credit or gift card rather than your gold coins, you are already losing about $100 which you could have gained if you just used your gold coins.

So, nest time you are buying an app or game from the Kindle store, try to purchase them using gold coins, just to save costs.
