I recently ordered for the Shoprite N2000 gift vouchers from Dealdey.com and this I did since it was being offered at a good 50% discount. So it means that with the gift voucher offer from Dealdey, one could buy items worth N2000 at Shoprite but pay only N1000.

The offer was made on Dealdey.com and while it was open, about 1600 vouchers were sold. It was only sold to one customer each meaning that a single customer was not allowed to buy more than one voucher.

After the offer closed on Dealdey and the vouchers have been sold off, I got a notification that my voucher was available for collection at Dealdey's office at the shopping mall. I had to go there thrice since for the first two times, their office was already closed and the lady was not willing to attend to me after office hours. They normally close their office by 7pm on weekdays and by 4pm on Saturdays. I finally got to collect my Shoprite gift vouchers from Dealdey on a Monday after work and I went earlier than 7pm just to be on time.

Now, I got the gift cards and the next thing was to go to Shoprite and buy all I want to buy. I first inquired from them whether I could use it to buy any item or if it was only restricted to specific items. They said yes I could and so I proceeded to shopping. Actually the reason I confirmed from them was because I saw someplace in the offer on Dealdey.com that it it can be used for soft drinks.

Anyway, a closer look at the Shoprite vouchers indicated that it was worth N1000 each and it was not restricted to any items in their store and so I began thinking what I would want to buy that wold be worth N2000 exactly without having to spend any of my dime or have need to collect change since they won't be giving back any.

Every Shoprite gift card voucher had a serial number and the value was printed on it. Using the gift card is probably a great way to get discounts off the things you normally buy at Shoprite.

I proceeded to Shoprite about 2 days later when I had time for shopping and was able to buy and pay with the gift voucher and about N20 extr of my cash. It means that once can pay using more than one payment method assuming your gift voucher doesn't cover the bills.

Anyway, shopping with a gift voucher at Shoprite is a new innovation in Nigeria and I'm hoping that it keeps coming with discounts too.
